The weekend of December 21, 2013 was a wonde rful time. Thanks to the generous donations from the public, parents, and guardians, on Saturday the 21st the Library was able to host our 4th Annual Gingerbread House Building Party! All those attending met the children’s author Blaze Kelly Coyle. She read from her first published book “The Most Traveled Squirrel in the Whole Wide World!” We also watched the Christmas classics; “A Charlie Brown’s Christmas,” “The Snowman” and “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” For the main event, everyone built their very own beautiful graham-cracker gingerbread houses! We also enjoyed the delicious fare donated by the Maywood Market Place. We concluded the event with a viewing of “The Santa Clause.” On Sunday, December 22, 2013, Public Relations Director Jenna Columbia, produced and conducted “Holiday Carols at the Library.” show celebrating this year’s holiday season in song. Volunteers Grace Weddington, Young-Ji Weddington, Sam Weddington, Julian Campillo, and Marcia Geise rehearsed for the concert for three weeks prior to the performance. The lyric sheets handed out to the audience encouraged their participation and all had a grand time! The event culminated with sweets and hot cocoa.

Renovation in Process
RENOVATION IN PROCESS
Made possible by the James and Pauline Hackbarth grant
Wondering why there are gigantic containers outside in the parking lot?
The Library is in the process of renovating the main Library area and the older biographies, fiction,
non-fiction and paperback books are stored in the containers. We expect the stacks to be up in early Spring. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. For updates about the renovation please check our website @ www.maywood.bccls.org
For any books that are not available please use BCCLS @ www.bccls.org
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE

No Gingerbread House’s this year!
Unfortunately, we are running a budget shortfall this year and need to request your help!
A couple of local businesses are willing to match donations but only if we ask the public first. If you attended any of the previous 4 Ginger Bread House building parties they were free.
This year, we’re asking for your help. Your donation of $10 will not only pay for a small share of supplies but also for the party refreshments. Time to be announced.
Please send your donation to The Maywood Public Library, Attention Jenna Lee Columbia, 459 Maywood Avenue, Maywood, NJ. Donations can be made via PayPal to: MaywoodLibrary@gmail.com
